To sleep or not to sleep – after a concussion

Yesterday my little guy (who is terrifyingly accident prone) fell at the park and got a giant bump on the back of his head. I was nervous about it and knew I had to watch him carefully for vomiting, changes in personality, or fatigue, but wasn’t sure if I had to keep him from sleeping in the car or not. I had always heard conflicting information and wasn’t sure what was fact or fiction. I started googling and found this very useful article and learned that it is a myth that you can’t sleep after a fall. My doctor confirmed this, but she added that I should check on him an hour after he fell asleep (whenever that may be) to look for him to be moving around normally. Interestingly this article actually states that sleep is vital to recovery. Good information to know!
