As many of you can attest, Beautycounter’s products are both high-performing and safe, but did you also know that many of them can pull double duty? Below I have listed a handful of products and the many different ways you can utilize them in addition to what they were originally created for. I compiled this list with the help of many of my amazing counterparts at Beautycounter and I would like to thank them for all of their help and wisdom. I would also love to hear from you if you have anything to add, so please feel free to comment and share.
Calendula Lip Balm: Before I tell you the bonus uses for this amazing lip balm I have to tell you how much I LOVE this stuff for its traditional use. I slathered it on all winter and haven’t had chapped lips once! It is smooth and long-lasting and has a subtle yet sweet scent that I love. My lips have never been softer.
Nipple Cream and Thumb Sucking Cream
Okay, time for the good stuff. I am here to say stop letting your lips enjoy all the glorious effects of this balm alone and consider using it as nipple butter! Yup — that is correct — nipple cream! It is 100% safe, made with soothing and smoothing avocado oil, shea butter, meadow foam seed oil and jojoba oil. Of course, it also contains calendula, which acts as an anti-inflammatory for those beginning weeks when your nipples need all the help they can get! Am I right, mamas?!
In addition to that, the lip balm can be used to sooth a baby’s raw thumb after hours of sucking. Believe it or not, the leading creams that were in fact created for this use often contain extremely dangerous ingredients and should not be consumed by humans, especially babies – seems crazy, but it’s true. The calendula lip balm is safe and helps to heal, which is amazing.
Another way to utilize this awesome product is to use it on mosquito bites. I know, unexpected! Can’t hurt to try, right?
One of my fellow Beautycounter consultants burned her hand while cooking dinner and used the calendula lip balm in place of the regular (chemical laden) cream she would have used in the past. It worked like a charm and she had almost no sign of a burn the next day. Good to know!
Lip Conditioning Peppermint Balm: This balm is similar to the calendula balm, however it replaces calendula with peppermint and rosemary leaf oils to cool and soothe. It provides a slight tingle on your lips, which I love.
In addition to soothing and protecting your lips, this yummy peppermint balm can be used as an alternative to vaporub. So, next time you or your loved ones are congested just try putting a little under your nose and breathe in deep. The peppermint oils help to open your passageways and as opposed to the typical vaporubs on the market, this one is actually safe to use — on anyone — even babies!
Lustro Body Oil: This oil is FABULOUS. Made of a blend of 13 botanical oils it instantly absorbs and intensely moisturizes leaving the skin smooth, silky and luminous. I use this in conjunction with either the Hydrate Body Lotion or the Enrich Body Butter and it eliminates my son’s eczema.
Sooth Fly Away Hair
As if that isn’t enough, it can also be used to help smooth those pesky fly away hairs. Rub a very small amount in your hands and apply it to the tips of your hair. Do not apply to the scalp in order to avoid an oily look.
Prevent and Soothe Sunburn
To top that, these amazing oils are so deep conditioning that they can even help to soothe sunburned and peeling skin. If used immediately after exposure to the sun it can help you avoid peeling altogether.
Rosewater Uplifting Spray: Our rosewater spray was created to be a skin-softening toning spray made with organic rose essence, purified water and moisturizing sodium hyaluronate. I am told that many people like to put this in the fridge and use it as a pick-me-up on hot days. Worth a try!
Set or Remove Makeup
This spray is often used after makeup application to help it “set”. Conversely, if you spray it in a q-tip you can use it to remove any eye makeup remnants when you wake up in the morning. Let me tell you, in the morning I can use all the help I can get. J
Nourishing Cleansing Balm: This best-seller is already multi-functional and worthy of a major shout out. I truly love it. It melts into your skin to hydrate while it cleanses, removing makeup and other impurities, without stripping away moisture. With vitamin C to brighten the skin and raspberry and cranberry seed oils to hydrate, the formula can also be used as an intensely nourishing face mask. I also use this for my son’s eczema flare ups and it works wonders.
Foot Callus Treatment
Another awesome way to use this product is as a callus treatment. It is very effective on dry, cracked, sandal foot, which plagues me in the summer.
While the foot callus treatment option is not too far of a stretch, this next one is! This amazing, multi-purpose balm can also be used as a face/cheek highlighter when applying makeup. Who doesn’t need some extra shine and glow?
The balm can also be used to help soothe and manage your cuticles. A lot has been uncovered in the news recently about the extremely dangerous chemical ingredients found in products used during manicures. This is a safe alternative that truly helps to soften cuticles. At least one part of the manicure can be safe now.
Kidscounter Nice Do Shampoo: This extremely gentle gluten and nut-free kids shampoo contains a mix of broccoli seed, carrot root and strawberry extracts that leave hair shiny and soft. There is also a hint of citrus oil and vanilla extract which gives the shampoo a creamy orange-vanilla swirl scent.
As much as the kids will love the shampoo I can bet they will love it even more when it turns their regular bath into a super fun and fantastic smelling bubble bath.
Touchup Skin Concealer Pen: Already a dual purpose product, our concealer pen hides dark circles, redness, and other imperfections while also helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and photoaging, so skin looks firmer, brighter and instantly more even.
Eye Makeup Primer
In addition to hiding the fact that I am a very tired mommy, I use the leftover concealer from under my eyes and apply some to the lids as well to act as an eye shadow primer. My eye shadow and eyeliner stay on way longer when I do this and it helps me apply the makeup more smoothly and evenly.
