Brushing teeth with charcoal is AWESOME!

I finally did it! I brushed my teeth with activated charcoal powder! It was awesome!

I bought loose activated charcoal from Amazon and dipped a toothbrush (not my regular brush) in it and then brushed gently for three minutes and afterward my teeth were noticeably whiter, but equally as awesome – they were as smooth as they are after a dental cleaning and polish! It doesn’t last more than a couple days, but it’s good for maintenance and to rid your teeth of stains. Be careful though – it can be messy and stains, but if you stand over the sink you should have no issue.

“It works because of activated charcoal’s natural adhesive qualities, which let it bind with surface-staining culprits like coffee, tea, wine, and plaque, and take them off your teeth for good when you spit it out, Banker says. However, its whitening power stops at stains—if your teeth are naturally darker or yellow, you’ll need to buy a product with a bleaching agent like hydrogen peroxide or try an in-office treatment.” “Charcoal is also antibacterial and anti–fungal. It absorb the bacteria, toxins and heavy metals in the mouth to give brighter and healthier smile.”

As far as safety goes, it’s safe to ingest – in fact, it’s often taken in capsule form to help rid the body of unwanted substances. I started doing this too! I think I like it, but it’s too early to give a full endorsement lol

The only safety concern with brushing is whether or not it’s so abrasive that it can damage enamel. For that reason I plan to keep my new obsession in check and only do it 2-3x a week.
